MM Chip – Multi Frequency Chip Available in the World

Our mother company in Japan, Toppan Forms Company Ltd., teamed with FEC, a Japan-based integrated circuit manufacturer, have already developed MM Chip, which is the first RFID chip that can be compatible to all frequencies from 13.56 MHz to 2.45 GHz in the world.

The aim for MM Chip is to make a chip that can literally be used in RFID transponders anywhere in the world. The size of write-once passive MM Chip is 0.5 sq. mm which has 32 bytes of memory storage. It is one of the world’s smallest chip with integrated antenna. It uses a proprietary method of communication between the tag and reader. Data can be written by infrared communication. Unlike most RFID chips, which are tuned to one frequency for reading and writing, MM Chip can be read by the world’s smallest reader writer developed by Toppan Forms using any frequency.

MM Chip will be available in commercial quantities in this autumn. The chip alone will be sold for below 10 yen for 10 millions units or more. We believe there will be a market for the product on items that travel among countries in different regions of the world.
